I have not set any remote learning work for next week (W/B 08.03.21) as we are expecting all children to be in school on Monday-I cannot wait to have you all back together again!

If your child needs to self-isolate at any point, I will update this Home Learning page with a weekly timetable of work for them to follow. I will only put work on here when necessary, so it may not be updated weekly like I have been doing for these past weeks.

Please note, as I am back to being in the classroom full-time, I will not be able to record audio lessons like I have been doing. There will, however, be relevant links to all of the work/websites, for the children to access, on the timetable.

This week I would like you to start describing music using the correct musical language. I would like you to watch the videos on dynamics and then try the quiz. Also I would like you to watch the video on texture.

Now…listen again to The Imperial March by John Williams and describe the dynamics and the texture throughout the piece. Do they change or remain the same?

Really think about each one as they are there to encourage you to listen to the instruments, dynamics, structure, texture and style of the music. You can click ‘show answer’ to reveal the answer to each question. Click on ‘Extended Listening’ and see how many of the keywords you understand.

Next – a ‘Listen Out’ task – ‘Pure Imagination’ from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Really listen to the instruments before choosing which ones you can hear in the extract.

Lastly, we are going to start learning how to sign the song ‘You’ve got a Friend.’ Watch the video and copy the actions.

GOOGLE MEET-Friday 12th @ 9.30am

At half 9, on Friday morning, I am going to arrange a Google Meet for all of the class to join. I will be emailing the link to the Google meet to all parents, along with a list of rules/expectations, on Thursday. If the class can start to join the meeting any time from about 9.20am, this would ensure we are all on the meeting by half 9. I thought this would be a lovely way for the class to see each other (even if it is through a screen!) and have catch up about our first half term of remote learning. It is also a chance for the children to discuss anything they have found challenging this half term as well as the things they have enjoyed the most. The session will last about 45 mins, until 10.15am. I will be in school with Mrs Murray and all of those from the class that are in school that day, so the whole team will be there! I look forward to seeing so many of your faces again!

This week I have given you a checklist of ALL of the Year 5/6 spellings. During your spelling practice (Tues, Weds & Fri) , I want you to go through them all and practice them, paying particular attention to any you find difficult. The R & W columns on the sheet are if you are tested on any of them you can tick whether you got it right or wrong-definitely worth doing to see which ones you need to focus on. There will be no Friday test as I just want you to look at them all. Next Friday (05.02), you will be tested on 20 random spellings!

BEDROCK LESSONS-MONDAY & THURSDAY THIS WEEK (as on timetable)

ACCELERATED READER!

I have some very exciting news….you can now take quizzes from home! From now on, and until we return to school, you can take a quiz on any of the books you are completing from home, if they are on the Accelerated Reader system. You need to follow the link below, and type in the username and password you use in school:

https://ukhosted6.renlearn.co.uk/2241660/

Although I have not set reading as a separate task, on the timetable, please make sure you continue with your regular reading. Free Ebooks can be accessed at https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/login?active-tab=students. Enter the username and password (I will text this to all parents on Monday). Here you will also have access to Oxford Owl spelling activities. Here is the parents guide to Oxford Owl spelling.

Miss Benson has also set you all up with individual logins for Charanga, a resource that she uses often in your lessons. I will email individual logins to each parent, via email. Miss Benson has said she will be setting tasks on this, and I will put this task on the weekly timetable each time she does.

This is the shared worship presentation we will be using daily in class, so it would be lovely to follow from home, as part of your daily worship.

Please remember to email (year6@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk) any of the ‘paper’ work to me for evidence and feedback purposes. As mentioned in the previous post, I am happy for you to email me work whenever suits you best, whether this be daily, every other day or at the end of the week. However, please can I ask you have all work emailed to me by 1.30pm on a Friday if possible. Please do not worry if you email me anything after this, it might just be the case that I will not manage to respond until after the weekend. It is important that each child is completing at least 4 hours of learning per day.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

This is the shared worship presentation we will be using daily, in class. It is centered around the feast of the Epiphany, so would be lovely to follow from home, as part of your daily worship.

If your child needs paper copies of any of the resources, please email me to let me know, and we will print them off for you. Please do not feel you have to print EVERYTHING off-some tasks you can do by having the resource on screen and writing ideas/answers on paper.

Please email me any pictures or scanned copies of your child’s work to year6@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk. It is important that we have evidence of the work completed at home, and so I can give feedback when necessary. They should be completing a minimum of 3 hours of learning each day. Thank you.

Please note: I will be in class all day on Monday and Tuesdays, and will therefore have less time free to check my emails on these days. Feel free to email me your child’s work whenever they have completed it, whether this be on a daily basis, or every couple of days, and I will do my best to respond and give feedback as soon as possible. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will be the days when I will be able to respond more promptly and will catch up on previous emails, if need be. Thank you.
