Yesterday, Year 6 came to talk to Year 4 about Show Racism the Red Card. A key point they made was that children should be upstanders, calling out racism where they see it or seeking help if they don’t feel confident. . This point really sank in with the children.

We have been extremely busy with our learning in Year FOUR this week. Here’s what we have been up to…

In English, the children have written fabulous newspaper entries

In Maths, the children have been using column addition and subtraction. We have also been considering more efficient strategies to use. We’ve also continued working on times tables and fluency.

In Music, the children have continued playing their cornets. Keep playing at home! The hard work now will be worth it

In PE, we have played team games, a game of three touch ball.

In Science, the children have reflected upon their previous learning

In RE, the children continued learning about Joseph, thinking about how his decisions were informed by faith, hope and love of God.

In computing, the children experimented with Scratch.

Fit2Go

Fit2Go is a curriculum based healthy lifestyle programme where the children will receive a one-hour classroom based lesson, as well as one hour multi sports physical activity session.

Our Fit2Go Sessions will be on a Wednesday, beginning the 6th November.

Resilience team!

Wellbeing Wednesday has continued! This week we braved the rain and got outside to breathe some fresh air. Lots of smiles all round!

We also did a quick quiz to see how the children are doing on their journey to being mental health champions.

Yesterday, Year 4 were incredible wellbeing ambassadors! Every member of the class went to another year group and shared kindness. They planned 5 minute wellbeing breaks for everyone. See the photos below and look for the smiles! Feedback from other teachers has been how much joy it brought to their groups and how respectful Year 4 were.

They really showed an understanding that activities that help with your wellbeing do not have to be difficult, long or involve resources. I am sure they would like to share how to do superhero breathing with you.

We have been extremely busy with our learning in Year FOUR this week. Here’s what we have been up to…

In English, the children have investigated the features of newspapers and written short recounts to use as quotes in the newspaper articles they are writing next week.

In Maths, the children have been using column addition and subtraction. We’ve also continued working on times tables and fluency.

In Music, the children have continued playing their cornets. Keep playing at home! The hard work now will be worth it

In PE, we have played team games.

In Science, the children have created food chains.

In RE, we started to learn about Joseph.

Resilience team!

Wellbeing Wednesday has continued! This week we gave stickers out, listened to music and enjoyed bubbles!

We also did a mental health scorecard check in. This is a chance for them to assess what they know and, later, they will reflect upon their learning.

Yesterday, Year 4 had their first class mass of the year, it was on the theme of Abraham’s covenant, which matches our RE topic. Father gave a question and some challenges: What is a covenant? Invent a covenant and write the bidding prayers. They worked so hard and it was so difficult selecting whose bidding prayers to choose, I had to do it randomly! The children who read the bidding prayers and those who did the challenging readings did a fantastic job! Father also taught us a new song “Though the Mountains May Fall.” The children did a beautiful job learning, remembering and singing this!

We have been extremely busy with our learning in Year FOUR this week. Here’s what we have been up to…

In English, the children have finished their setting descriptions with contrasting moods and moved onto looking at a newspaper report and considering whether the whale was spotted, or if it was a hoax!

In Maths, the children have been counting in 25s, and learning negative numbers. I am so proud of all of their effort in Maths this week.

In Music, the children have continued playing their cornets. Please keep practicing at home. Practice makes….

In PE, we have practiced handball skills.

In Science, the children have finished the journey of food through the digestive system.

In RE, we learned more about God’s covenant with Abraham, learning about Abraham and Sarah’s child, Isaac.

Resilience team!

Wellbeing Wednesday has continued! This week we wrote short positive messages to hand out to others in the class. The children also considered what it will mean to be Mental Health Champions and what their actions could be.

We’ve started planning the World Mental Health day activities for Thursday next week. .
