This Week's Worship
This week's worship was led by Eleena and Florence. They reflected on this week's Gospel in which John refers to Jesus as 'The Lamb of God'.

This Week's Learning
In Maths our focus has been in finding the area of triangles and parallelograms.
Using the formula, base x height ÷ 2, we were able to find the area of any type of triangle. We just have to remember that the height has to be perpendicular with the base. For parallelograms the formula was very similar but we do not need to divide by 2 at the end, we simply times the base by the (perpendicular!) height.
In English we finished our shared write! Each child has now planned their independent write and has made a start on their own narrative.
In PE with Mrs Owen (sadly, I was off poorly on Thursday!) this week, the class continued their dance routine to David Bowie's 'Starman'. I look forward to seeing how they have progressed the routine!
In Science we were drawing and explaining scientific diagrams that proved that light travels in a straight line.
In Computing this week we completed our presentations on Bletchley Park and some of us had a chance to present these to the rest of the class.
In RE this week we looked at how the seven sacraments are celebrated within the parish. We looked at an example of a parish bulletin and highlighted any information on any of the sacraments. We then used this to describe how each sacrament is celebrated in our books.
SATs rotation groups
This week we had our second SATs rotation. For the whole of Friday morning each group (the class have been divided into 3 smaller groups) spent 1 hour focusing on one of the three SATs areas: maths, reading and GPS. Mr Duffy led the Maths group, I (Mrs Murphy) led the Reading group and Mrs Owen led the GPS group. The class really enjoyed the layout of the morning and having the opportunity to focus on each of the SATs papers and the different types of questions. Moving forward, we are hoping to have this rotation at least once a week.
AWARD WINNERS!
Golden Award (RESPECT): this week’s Golden Award went to Olivia for always being so respectful to her peers and teachers alike.
Maths Award: this week’s Maths Award went to William for the significant progress he is making-I can see his confidence growing.
Writing Award: this week's Writing Award went to Elsie for making a sold start to her independent write.
Inter-school Football Tournament
A huge well done to our Year 4, 5 & 6 girls who took part in the inter-school tournamant at Stanley Park on Monday. It was a cold and slightly rainy day but the girls did not let that stop them from giving it their all! They may not have come first place, but we are all so proud of the effort and skills they showed and how respectfully they respresented our school!

Notices
- PE days are Wednesdays and Thursday this half term.
- Reading books - Year 6 completed their STAR Reading test on Tuesday and have their new ZPDs. Quite a few children have stayed on the same ZPD as before Christmas. I would really be hoping to see each child moving up the ZPDs with each new test they do. Please do keep up with home reading as this will help to see that progress with each test taken. We do want the children to challenge themselves with their home readers too, so please do let me know if you ever think the book they are reading at home is perhaps not challenging enough.
- Homework- Please find details on this week’s homework here. If your child very finds any of the homework challenging, please remind them to mention it to me in school and we can go over it together. I am still using Learning by Questions as the Maths and English online resource and spellings this week have been taken from the Read, Write, Inc Spelling scheme that we use in class, rather than the Year 5/6 spelling list.
- Contact information- We no longer access the year group email (year6@…) If you need to contact me for any reason, and cannot catch me at the door, feel free to either pop an email to the admin address (with Year 6 in the subject box) or give the school a ring.
Online Safety at Our Lady's
At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.
Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.
This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…
What Parents and Educators Need to Know about Roblox A #WakeUpWednesday guide examining Roblox’s user-created games, highlighting risks around chat, spending and excessive play for children.
We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.
