Good Afternoon!

Welcome back to Year 3 after our half term break.  This week the children attended church on Thursday to celebrate a whole school Mass for All Saints Day.  This was a lovely occasion for us all to worship together as a whole school and parish community.  On Friday the children were invited to come to school dressed as a firework, it was great to see all the colourful outfits!  Thank you for all the donations of bottles/chocolates for prizes at the bingo event and for the Christmas Fair.

During our whole school worship this forthcoming week, the children will grow in their understanding of these key messages...

  • Because of Jesus’ death and Resurrection, we are all called to be Temples of the Holy Spirit.
  • God the Holy Spirit finds a home in each of us and believers recognise His presence
  • We can live out our faith every day by sharing God’s love and presence with those around us.

OUR LEARNING THIS WEEK...

ENGLISH - The children have been exploring the meaning of a range of vocabulary, linked to their weekly spelling.  We have been investigating adding the suffix '-ion' and how this can change root words from verbs into nouns.

MATHS - This week, we have been developing our knowledge of multiplication and division, considering how we can use our known number facts to work out answers to more complex questions.

RE - We have started our new topic 'Prophecy and Promise'.  The children considered the importance of Sunday as a 'Holy Day' for Christians and how this links to the seventh day of the Creation Story.

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…

What Parents & Educators Need to Know about Memes.  Memes may seem like harmless fun, but they can carry hidden risks. This guide explores how meme culture affects young people - from misinformation to inappropriate content and digital footprints.

We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.
