You’ve got this, Year 6! 💪🏼
This week in class we have been using our mornings for revision. It has been a great way to recap concepts as well as identify any last-minute gaps any of the class may have. I hope the class have found this useful. We have now done all that we can in preparation for next week, and I just know they are all going to make me so incredibly proud. I know I have mentioned this a lot, but Year 6 please do NOT put too much pressure on yourselves next week. Use this weekend to relax and enjoy yourself and make sure you get plenty of sleep on Sunday night, and each night next week. A good night’s sleep is SO important! Due to the intense week we have coming up, I have not set any homework this week. They certainly deserve a break from any additional work at home!
SATs Mornings Monday-Thursday
Next week, on the four mornings of our SATs tests, I will be inviting the class to come into school early to have breakfast. There will be toast and fruit on offer and a chance for the class to come in that little bit earlier and have breakfast and a chat before going into the hall for their tests. If they do not choose to come in earlier, they MUST be at school by 8.45am promptly, as we will be sitting our tests in the morning.
SATs Celebration-Friday 16th May
On the Friday of SATs week we will be having a well deserved celebration in the classroom. There will be food, music and great company. On Wednesday, each child in the class came home with an item to contribute towards our ‘Jacob’s Join’. Any dry, sealed items can be brought into school any time before Friday, but we please ask that items that need refrigerating or those that have short expiry dates are brought in on the Friday morning.
Kooth: Mental health and well being support
Please find below an information letter from Kooth, which is a resource that offers free, safe and anonymous mental health and well-being support for young people no matter what worries they are facing. In the lead up to SATs week this could be a useful resource for any struggling with anxiety or stress. I would hope the children also know that we are always here to talk to as well if they are ever finding the work we are doing overwhelming or stressful!
80th Anniversary VE Day Celebration-Thursday 8th May
Yesterday we celebrated VE Day in school. We came to school dressed in red, white and blue and in the afternoon we had a lesson where we looked at the events of VE Day and why it was such an important and joyous day. We then listened to a VE day song and had a go at writing our own verse to the song. After this, we created a VE dsy poster.
