Well done Year 6!!

I am struggling to find the words to express how much pride I have been filled with this week. Your amazing children have come in each day this week, filled with determination and positivity and have given each SATs paper their absolute all! They have taken each day in their stride and truly shown the SATs who’s boss!! Myself, Mrs Owen, Mrs Ormerod and Mrs Mannix could not be any prouder of all of our Year 6’s. Parents, they are an absolute credit to you! We all gave a massive sigh of relief and a huge cheer at the end of our last paper yesterday and today has been a lovely way to celebrate the end of SATs week: we enjoyed a little party in the classroom with food, drink and music and it was lovely to see many teachers in the school (past and present) pop along to celebrate with us too. Again, well done Year 6!

Believe it or not, we have also been up to much more this week. Here’s what else we’ve been up to…..

In Maths we have been revising a range of concepts, including: shape, the mean, angles and percentages.

In Science we consolidated our learning on the topic of ‘Light’ by making an information leaflet.

In RE we looked at the events of PentecostThe Coming of the Holy Spirit. We responded and reflected on three questions: What happened at Pentecost? How did the disciples feel? Why? Why did so many people want to be baptised?

Water Park Parent/Child Meeting-Friday 13th May

Water Park Parent/Child Meeting-this will be held on Tuesday 20th May, straight after school (3.15pm) in the PE hall. This will be a chance for the teachers to go over important information about the residential and answer any questions you may have. All the teachers that will going on the residential (Mrs Ormerod, Mrs Owen, Miss Heim-Sarac and Miss Evans) will hopefully be present at this meeting too.

📚Extreme Reading Challenge📚

Continuing with our focus on reading across school, we have a challenge for the children! Reading is one of the most valuable skills we teach children, and it can be a magical adventure when we bring creativity and fun into the mix. One exciting way to encourage pupils to read is through extreme reading challenges – taking books to unusual places or reading in imaginative ways. Where is the most interesting place you have ever read a book? Whether it is up a tree or on top of a mountain, we want your photos! Your challenge is to take a photo of yourself reading somewhere extreme (but safe!) and send it to school. Please send your photos to admin@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk so we can display these in school and on our website. We can't wait to see your pictures! Thank you for your support!

🖥Online Safety at Our Lady’s

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…

What Parents and Educators Need to Know about Minecraft This free guide explores Minecraft – a gaming favourite for children and adults alike. It highlights the potential risks, including online strangers, in-game bullying and unintended spending.

We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
