In RE this week we have focused on the actions of Peter the Apostle. We know on Pentecost Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit to be with the Apostles was fulfilled. This transformed all of the disciples, especially Peter. We looked at how Peter was transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and was capable of continuing Jesus’ mission on earth. He performed miracles, baptised people, preached in front of huge crowds did all of this without fear. This is how we know Jesus was truly with Peter.
Here is what else we have been up to….
In our Maths our focus has been on problem solving. We have solve problems on mixed operations, fractions, decimals and time.
In English we continued with our Darwin discovery unit. We wrote a setting description of the Island that Fitzroy and Darwin first visited. We then had a grammar focus on dashed and formal and informal uses of language, using our Darwin Discovery narrative text to help us.
In PE it was Luke’s last lesson with us. After half term, we will be assigned a new PE teacher from BFC. As it was his last lesson with the class, he played dodge ball but with a twist: water balloon dodge ball! The class had a lot of fun that’s for sure! Thank you to Luke for being such a great PE teacher this year!
We also had a chance to look at the Year 6 Production script that myself and Mrs Owen have drafted. In our Music lesson we have been listening and learning some of the songs that will be in the production. We have been using vocabulary such as tempo, rhythm, pitch and melody to describe the songs too!
In Art we were inspired by the discovery narrative in our English lesson and the island Darwin and Fitzroy visitied-the Empire of Brazil. The class used collage and oil pastels to create their own version of the island and created some really effective pieces of artwork.!
Just one half term left!
I can hard believe that when we return to school we have just 6 weeks until we bid farewell to our Year 6 Leavers 2025! We have a lot going on in those last 6 weeks: transition work, residential, production, leavers’ assembly, leavers’ mass. And all of this is on top of our learning, particularly that last push with our writing before those assessments have to be submitted! I will certainly be making the most of the last of my weeks with this wonderful class!
