Before half term, we looked at the events of Pentecost and what this meant for us, Jesus’ disciples today. As the feast of Pentecost was last weekend, we did not have a whole school mass to mark this special day. We marked Pentecost this week by having an extended break time on Wednesday. It was a lovely way to celebrate and rejoice the coming of the Holy Spirit! 🕊

Here is what else we have been up to….

In our Maths our focus has still been on problem solving. Our focus this week has been on time.

In English we continued with our Darwin discovery unit. We have looked at the example text in more depth, planned our own write and have started to draft our discovery narrative.

We also had a chance to further look at the Year 6 Production script that myself and Mrs Owen have drafted. In our Music lesson we have been listening and learning some of the songs that will be in the production. We have been revising the vocabulary such as tempo, rhythm, pitch and melody.

🌟 AWARD WINNERS! 🌟

The Golden Award went to James for being incredibly respectful towards his learning partner in class.

The Maths Award went to Peter for his great problem solving with time.

The Writing Award went to Harriet for her powerful choices of vocabulary in her discovery narrative.

Golden tickets and Extreme Reading Challenge

Just a reminder that during the Summer term, the whole school will continue taking part in our reading challenge. Children will receive a golden ticket each time they read and get their reading diary signed three times. At the end of each half term, during our celebration assembly, we will draw a golden ticket from each class’s box, and one winner from each class will receive a reward. Please encourage your child to read regularly and bring in their signed reading diary so they can start collecting their golden tickets.

We’re also asking the children to take part in our extreme reading challenge. Your challenge is to take a photo of yourself reading somewhere extreme (but safe!) and send it in to school. Thank you to those who have already sent theirs in - these will be uploaded soon to the website at the location shown in the photo below.

Please send your photos to admin@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk so we can display these in school and on our website. We can't wait to see your pictures! Thank you for your support!
