Key Messages of the forthcoming Gospel Reading…
Children will learn that:

  • Everyone has a vocation. Sometimes they are specific, sometimes they are more general.

  • Our common vocation is to love God and love others!

Our learning this week…

In English we have been continuing to explore our class text ‘Jemmy Button’ this is an interesting return narrative themed text. This week the children have been comparing this story to another return narrative text ‘To the City and Back’, investigating the author’s use of language to create effect

In Maths we have been continuing our learning to find fractions of amounts and objects. The children were able to use bar models as a tool to support them in finding unit and non-unit fractions. We have also developed our understanding of some of the terminology linked with fractions, including numerator and denominator.

In History, we have started our new topic on the Anglo-Saxons and Scots. This week we began by considering where the Anglo-Saxons came from, why they invaded Britain and who were some of the Anglo-Saxon leaders. We also used maps to locate and label the seven Anglo-Saxon kingdoms.

In RE, we have been focusing on the bible story ‘The Road to Emmaus’, we have explored the key events of this piece of scripture and we have considered how Christians learn about the ways in which they can show their own beliefs, trust and faith in God.

In PE, we have been continuing to develop our bowling and batting skills in small sided rounders games.
