Jubilee Joy: Freedom

And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’”

Luke 4:8

Key Messages for Whole School Worship

Children will understand that:

  • The Year of Jubilee is an opportunity to draw closer to God.

  • During Lent God calls us to free ourselves from things that get in the way of our friendship with Him.

  • We can be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ by experiencing God through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

Please have a look at this Parent Newsletter linked with our weekly whole school and class worships…

ASH WEDNESDAY (5th March 2025)

On Wednesday the whole school celebrated Mass together in Church to mark the beginning of Lent. The children received ashes and were led in reflection of how they might grow on their own journey during Lent as we wait in hope for Easter.

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…

What Parents & Educators Need to Know about TikTok. This free guide explores the potential online safety risks of TikTok, letting you know how to safeguard children and young people who use the platform.

We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.

Our learning this week…

In English, the children have been using illustrations from our new class text ‘Into the Woods’.. to create their own descriptions, using a range of nouns, adjectives and personification. We have been working hard to edit our sentences to ensure we have used all the correct punctuation.

In Maths we have started our new topic on fractions. This week we have developed understanding of unit and non unit fractions. We have been ordering and comparing fractions using the greater than, less than and equals to symbols.

In History, we have been learning about Ancient Egypt, we have been asking questions linked to a range of artefacts. We have also been thinking carefully about the key vocabulary, ‘Ancient’ and ‘Civilisation’.

In Science, we have been completing our investigation on how the size of shadows can change. The children worked hard to draw conclusions and explain their knowledge.

Spellings, times tables and homework

The children will be coming home with their spellings and homework on Monday 10th March , this needs to be returned by Monday 17th March 2025.

Please can you encourage your child to access the TT Rock Stars online, logins have been sent home this week.
