Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me; Matthew 10: 40

Ready to Welcome

Key Messages of the forthcoming Gospel Reading…

Children will learn that:

  • To be welcomed means to be known, valued, and accepted.

  • God welcomes us into His family and wants us to welcome others.

  • By welcoming others, we also welcome God!

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month's online safety guides give helpful advice about…

  • Amino - This free online safety guide analyses the social media network Amino, highlighting possible risks such as inappropriate content, gaps in moderation and compulsive use.

  • AI Virtual Friends - This online safety guide looks at ‘virtual friends’ – AI-powered companions that are proving popular with young people – and highlights what trusted adults need to be aware of.

  • OmeTV - This guide explores OmeTV –a social networking app that connects people from all parts of the world on randomly- generated video chats. It explores the app’s functions, its inherent risks, and how to address them as a parent or carer.

  • Money-muling - This guide profiles money muling, and highlights ways that trusted adults can help prevent young people to avoid being drawn into this illegal activity.

We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all.

Our learning this week…

In English we have been developing our understanding of using inverted commas to show direct speech within a narrative. We have also started to plan our own lost narrative stories, thinking about effective description for the setting and characters.

In Maths we have been learning to find right angles in a range of 2D shapes and we have been using compass directions, and the terminology of clockwise and anti-clockwise to describe quarter and half turns.

In RE we have been continuing to explore the story of the Good Samaritan, as an important piece of scripture for Christians to guide them in some ways they can be a good neighbour to others.
