Father, the Hour has come! (John 17:1) (Copy)

“Father, the hour has come: glorify your Son so that your Son may glorify you; and, through the power over all mankind that you have given Him, let Him give eternal life to all those you have entrusted to Him.”

(John 17:1-2)

Key Messages of the forthcoming Gospel Reading…

Children will understand that:

• Jesus demonstrates that prayer helps us to fully focus on God; to see Him clearly in all His glory.

• Jesus prayed for His disciples and for us – those who will continue to spread His joy, hope, peace and love!.

The Feast Day of the Ascension

On Thursday 18th May, we celebrated mass as a whole school at church, to join the parish on Ascension Day. The Ascension is an important celebration in the Church calendar and remembers the events of Jesus ascending into heaven and leaving an important message to his apostles about the coming of the Holy Spirit.

The children enjoyed the mass, and especially singing our hymns along with the guitar accompaniment with Father Frank!

WEDNESDAY WORD Please follow this link below to access the Gospel Readings for the forthcoming week, there are also some fun activities to complete, this is a fantastic family resource to share and celebrate with your child at home.

Our learning this week…

In English we have been continuing to explore our class text ‘Jemmy Button’, an interesting return narrative themed text. This week the children have started to write their own version of the story, giving a particular focus to the use of prepositions in our writing to extend and expand sentences.

In Maths we have been learning to order and compare a variety of unit and non-unit fractions, using the ‘more than’ and ‘less than’ signs. Towards the end of the week, we have been extending our learning to adding and subtracting fractions.

In RE we have been considering the important messages for Christians from the story of Jesus’ Ascension into Heaven. We discussed how the disciples might be feeling and we thought of some questions that they might have wanted to ask.
