Journey with Jesus through Holy Week

“Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord—the King of Israel!”

John 12:12-13

Key Messages for Whole School Worship

Children will understand that:

This week, children are invited to journey with Jesus through Holy Week. By focusing on the events of the last week of Jesus’ life on Earth children will listen and relate each Scripture to their lives. Children will be invited to meet the loving presence of Jesus as they walk the road to the Cross in prayer, and to continue walking close to Him always.

Please have a look at this Parent Newsletter linked with our weekly whole school and class worships…

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…

What Parents and Educators Need to Know about Search Engines  This free guide highlights the risks search engines pose to children – such as exposure to inappropriate content, misinformation, and scams – and provides practical tips to help keep them safe online. We hope you find this guide informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all.

On Monday, Year 3 led the school in a Holy Week reflection, we focussed on the messages of Jesus’ Last supper with His Disciples, including prayers, readings, acting and even a dance. Well done to all of Year 3!

Our learning this week…

In English, we have been starting to plan our own stories based on the lost narrative text we have been studying. We have thought carefully about describing the story setting and the main characters, using a range of adjectives and adverbs for effect.

In Maths we have been applying our mathematical reasoning skills to a range of real life word problems. We have also been using calculators to complete some investigations, working with our learning partners to explain our understanding.

In Science, we have been learning about different types of rocks. This week we have explored the properties and names of some igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks.

Well done to our Year 3 Easter Egg Competition entries - they were fantastic!

As a school, we are always looking for ways to improve children’s engagement, so during the Summer term, the whole school will be taking part in a reading challenge. Children will receive a golden ticket each time they read and get their reading diary signed three times. At the end of each half term, during our celebration assembly, we will draw a golden ticket from each class’s box, and one winner from each class will receive a reward. Please encourage your child to read regularly and bring in their signed reading diary so they can start collecting their golden tickets. Thank you for your support.
