"God loves us beyond comprehension, and we cannot diminish God's love for us." Saint Peter

On Thursday we marked the Feast Day of two great saints, Saint Peter and Saint Paul, who were both friends of Jesus, but their lives were very different. Father talked about these two men and what their lives teach us about the love of God and we learnt that mistakes are always forgiven and nothing is impossible if we have faith in the Lord.

Our learning this week…

In English the children have continued to develop their performance piece ready for our trip to the Grand Theatre on the 6th July in our Tales Retold workshop. They’re excited to share this with you all.

They have also been working on using adverbs to create cohesion, identifying writer’s knowledge in preparation for their own big write and creating a mood palette to describe their own beast for their writing.

In Maths the children have been working on different methods for multiplication.

In RE the children have been looking at the Rosary.

In Science the children have explored ways that mixtures can be separated by sieving, filtering, evaporation and magnetic attraction.

In history the children have explored what the Maya ruins tell us about city-states.

In computing the children have tinkered with Sonic Pi which allows the children to code music.

In Spanish the children have begun working on language to present themselves.

In DT the children have designed and planned their own stuffed toy.

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This months online safety guides give helpful advice about…

  • Amino - This free online safety guide analyses the social media network Amino, highlighting possible risks such as inappropriate content, gaps in moderation and compulsive use.

  • AI Virtual Friends - This online safety guide looks at ‘virtual friends’ – AI-powered companions that are proving popular with young people – and highlights what trusted adults need to be aware of.

  • OmeTV - This guide explores OmeTV –a social networking app that connects people from all parts of the world on randomly- generated video chats. It explores the app’s functions, its inherent risks, and how to address them as a parent or carer.

  • Money-muling - This guide profiles money muling, and highlights ways that trusted adults can help prevent young people to avoid being drawn into this illegal activity.

We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all.
