'The great gift of Easter is hope.' - Basil Hume

Good afternoon everyone,

This week we have remembered the events of Holy Week through retellings of the Easter story by KS2. We have quietly reflected on the meaning behind these stories in class and considered how we can be more like Jesus when facing challenges or difficulties,

Please follow this link below for more information on this week’s Gospel and to share some interesting activities at home.

Wednesday Word

This week, we welcomed Mrs Holden back after her maternity leave. It was lovely to see her and have her back in class! She will be with Year 4 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

We have been extremely busy with our learning in Year FOUR this week. Here’s what we have been up to…

In English, the children have written persuasive letters

We’ve also continued reading Anglo-Saxon Boy.

In Maths, the children have worked brilliantly all week, using decimals in different ways.

In Music, the children have continued playing their brass instruments.

In RE, the children learned more about Holy Week..

In PE, the children continued their target game unit, playing some dodgeball.

In Design Technology the children made their own torches. Components will be coming home soon!

GULP Challenge

Thank you for returning the GULP Challenge diaries. When we hear the results, we will let you know!

This week, the practiced connect with kindness, by having conversations and actively listening

We’ve continued to put “I breathe in calm, I breathe out stress” into practice.

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…

What Parents and Educators Need to Know about Search Engines  This free guide highlights the risks search engines pose to children – such as exposure to inappropriate content, misinformation, and scams – and provides practical tips to help keep them safe online. We hope you find this guide informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all.

🌟 AWARD WINNERS! 🌟

The Golden Award went to Alicia for always being a respect role model

The Maths award went to Leo for his love of decimals.

The Writing award went to Cameron for his focus on his handwriting, which has let his skills shine!

Children who had their reading records signed 5 times also got a Dog Man sticker!

📌NOTICES 📌:

  • Reading records, reading books and water bottles need to be in school every day, please.

  • Y4’s PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Earrings should not be worn on PE days.

  • Remember brass instruments on a Tuesday! If you don’t practice, you won’t improve.

  • Homework is available on the Y4 Homework section of the website, times tables and spellings will be tested next Friday.

  • Please keep sending your child in with their red water bottles or their GULP bottles. Air-Up and similar bottles are not appropriate for school, we have had a few issues with them leaking.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Holden, Mr Bourn and Mrs Dunford
