Good afternoon everyone,
This week we have been learning about the story of Noah’s Ark and how God tasks us with being stewards of his creation. The rainbow in the sky reminds us of this. We have been thinking about the ways we can be stewards by caring for our community, other people and ourselves - these are all creations of God.
English - This week we have begun our unit of writing on A River by Marc Martin. We have wrote sentences about journeys using powerful verbs and adverbs, we have written question sentences about the settings and have written expanded noun phrases to describe settings. Mrs Bowdell’s group began their green Read Write Inc story focuses.
Maths - In Maths we have continued to explore place value. We have looked at partitioning in different ways, have counted in tens from any number and have written partitioning number sentences.
Science - In Science we wrote about the life cycle of a chicken.
RE - We learned about how we are stewards of God’s creation and designed posters to show others how to care for God’s world.
Geography - We identified the 7 continents by shape, labelled them and placed them in the correct place on a map.
Computing - We learned about some key parts of a computer.
PE - In our outdoor PE we practised passing a ball and then moving. In indoor PE, we created our own dance sequences based on vehicle movements.

There is also a handwriting sheet for these words.

You do not need to return completed homework to school. It is set so you can see what your child is learning about during the week. However, I am happy to look at any completed work if you want it be checked.
We are currently taking our reading quiz which will give us a book level (known as ZPD). This allows us to give the children reading books which are at the best level for them in regards to both word reading but also their ability to remember and explain what they have read. We will do these reading quizzes at the beginning and end of every half term.
Please read as often as possible at home. It is the most important piece of work you can do with your child to support their learning.
