We have had a fabulous first week back in school!

Year 6 have started their exploration of Shakespeare’s play: ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ and have been active in our approach to the text. We have discussed some of the themes of the play; such as favouritism within families and how this might effect your behaviour, power struggles and how the roles of men and women are perceived in society today. Our discussions have been in depth and informative allowing us to enter into the world of the Minola family to best understand Kate and Bianca.

Also, this week we are very proud to announce that in our class we have amazing musical talent: so well done to Leon for winning young musician of the year by wowing the judges with his stunning drumming skills, and to Jessica for winning Pop Idle with her melodious vocals. Great job, we are all so proud of you!

This week we also began the rehearsals for the year 6 performance! which will take place on the 18th July time to be confirmed later.

Just one more date for your diary, on the 26th June, on the school field, we are holding a Summer Shakespeare Fair from 4:30pm to 6:00pm so please come along and support our class; have a go on the stalls, listen to the music, watch the performances , eat drink and be merry! Spread the word the more the merrier.
