Year 5 have been studying Shakespeare's "The Tempest" in class and I have been delighted with their enthusiasm and the quality of their written work. We have spent some time exploring the play through active approaches and have really got to grips with the story line and explored some of the characters in depth. Having the RSC visit and perform the play in our school was one of the highlights, and this has really helped the children deepen their understanding further. The children have written some excellent descriptions of the storm from the beginning of the play, detailed descriptions of the island and are now writing their own Tempest story. The children are also working in small groups to create short films of different scenes from the play.
