It has been another busy week in Year 3. Time really is flying and the children are enjoying the challenges that life in the juniors brings.

In Maths this week we have been looking at place value and learning to understand what the value of each number is in a three digit number. We have also learnt about how to work out if a number is greater than or less than another number. The children are working super hard in their Maths work and this is really paying off! Well done Year 3.

In English this week we have been carrying on looking at Fables but with more of a grammar focus. We have done further work on inverted commas and have started to learn about conjunctions and how we can use these to join two single clause sentences together.

In Science we have been learning about the permeability of rocks. We conducted an experiment where we put different rocks in to water and noted whether there were any bubbles coming off the rock or not. If there were bubbles then the rock was permeable, and if there wasn’t then the rock was impermeable.

In History we have continued to be archaeologists and we had a go at matching artefacts to their descriptions. This was quite tricky as it required teamwork but we got there in the end!

In R.E. we had Father Jim visiting us to answer the questions we thought of last week for him. The children were fascinated by what he had to say and thoroughly enjoyed having him in school to visit us. We are going to start learning about Baptism next week and about how this is our welcome in to the Christian family.
