This week we have been learning about the importance of having a growth mindset. We have learnt that the brain is a muscle and that we are not born ‘smart’. The more we use our brain, the stronger and smarter it gets. That is why it is important to challenge ourselves and not give up - if we do give up our brain becomes lazy! The children have really got on board with this and we will be doing lots more work on this as the year progresses.

We have done lots of super learning in Year 3 this week and I am so proud of all of the children for how hard they have worked and for the effort they have been making. It is not easy transitioning from Year 2 to life in the juniors but they are all taking it in their stride.

In Maths this week we have been focusing on adding and subtracting a one digit number from a two digit number.

In English we have continued to look at Fables and have done some role play around this. We have also been learning about inverted commas and when we can use these in our writing.

In Science we did an experiment around how rocks can change over time and learnt all about erosion.

In R.E. we have devised some questions to ask Father Jim as he is visiting our class next Friday. This ties in to our learning around our Christian family and who makes up that family.

In Art we have been doing some colour mixing and learning about Vincent Van Gogh.

In History we were archaeologists for the day and we were looking at some artefacts to decide what we could deduce from them.

All in all a very busy but fun week!
