The highlight of our week has definitely been Sports Day! All the children tried their absolute best and didn't give up. I was so proud of them all. Well done to all of the children for also showing fantastic teamwork and cheering their team mates on. In the end Layton won the KS2 trophy which was well deserved!

In Maths this week we have been learning about division. The children have found this tricky but we have used our growth mind sets and will continue to look at this next week.

In English we have started to look at a new text - Escape from Pompeii. This is a story about two children who fled Pompeii when Vesuvius erupted in AD79. It ties in beautifully with our current History topic (Romans) and Geography topic (Volcanoes). The children have written a setting description this week and will write their own narratives based on the story over the next couple of weeks.

In History this week we have been thinking about how we know that the Romans existed which led us on to thinking about archaeologists and what evidence they have found when digging up sites. We played a Roman themed Battleships style game which we all enjoyed!

This morning we went over to Church to take part in the Solemn Exposition. The children were so beautifully behaved and respectful, well done Year 3.

I can't believe we break up for summer 2 weeks today - this year has really flown by!

Awards this week go to:

Maths: Liliana

Writing: Naomi

Golden: All of Year 3 for an amazing Sports Day!

Have a lovely weekend.
