It has been lovely to welcome the children back this week after the half term. I hope all the children had a fabulous week off. They have certainly come back to school raring to go with their learning!
In Maths this week the children have been learning to add or take away 10 or 1 from a given number; as well as starting to learn to do these calculations mentally. I am impressed with their hard work this week. Their brains are certainly growing!
In English we have been putting the finishing touches to our information texts. The children have enjoyed learning about new places to write about and their finished work will soon be up in our classroom on display.
The children will be coming home this weekend with a letter about our upcoming school trip. The trip will take place on Thursday 23rd November and we will be going to Brockholes Nature Reserve in Preston. There we will be learning about shelter building and bushcraft skills to tie in with our Stone Age topic as well as looking at Rocks to tie in with our Science topic. It should be a lovely day and the children were very excited when I explained about the trip to them today. There are further details on the letter which should be in their book bags.
There was no Maths Award this week due to the new term starting on Tuesday (these awards are usually given out on a Monday) and the following Writing and Golden Awards will be given out in Monday's assembly as the Year 6 class assembly took place today:
Have a lovely weekend.
