We have had a lovely week back and it has been great to get back to normal! The children have worked really hard this week, but no certificates have been handed out as we had a special visitor in assembly on Friday, telling us all about the history of the circus in Blackpool. All awards will be given out in assembly on Monday.

As part of the special assembly on Friday a number of class, including Year 2, have been involved with the 'Word Pool' project - a flyer about this came home with the children. This is a wonderful, and free, event that takes place in Stanley Park on Saturday 7th July. Year 2 will have postcards on display in the circus tent!

This week we have been learning...

English - our new topic is all about Fantasy stories and this week we have concentrated on the language used by authors to describe settings.

maths - we have focused on subtraction and the different ways we can answer these questions. We have also looked at the inverse, addition, and how we can use addition to check our subtraction work.

Science - we have focused on animal survival this week and what all animals need to survive.

RE - we have looked at the early church this week in our new topic called The Church. We have learnt how the disciples became known as apostles as the took on the mission to spread the Good News.

Topic - we have looked at the RNLI as part of our continued work on Grace Darling.

Work at home - continued with daily reading please - don't forget to sign your child's record.

Can I please remind all parents that children CANNOT do PE with earrings in and that nail varnish and tattoos are NOT permitted to be wore at school. Thank-you.

We have been delighted to welcome back Mr Graham and Mr Groves to our class this week and they will be continuing to work with Year 2 until the summer. They will be with us Monday - Wednesday!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.....Mrs Hollinghurst and Mrs Bowdell
