The children have all been working hard, but these are the children who have really shone this week....

Maths award - Laciee for really improving her scores on our weekly Maths quiz....well done Laciee, keep up the hard work.

Golden Award - Georgina for her kindness towards others. I want Georgina to know that her acts of kindness towards her classmates never go unnoticed.

Writing Award - Grace for working on her cursive handwriting, which is now neat, small, joined and beautifully presented.

This week we have been learning....

English - we have been writing our own diary entries based on the character from our class story. We used an imaginary experience to write a first person, past tense account of our character's day. Please encourage your child to practice their handwriting at home....consistent sizing of letters is VERY important.

Maths - this week we have been working on data handling, learning about tally charts, pictogram, bar charts, carroll and venn diagrams. We also refreshed our memory about the properties of 3D shapes. busy, busy!!

Science - we had a nature walk around school looking at mirco-habitats and the organisms that live there as part of our Habitats topic. We found slugs, bees, beetles, woodlice and plenty of ants!!

RE - we continued our work on Eastertide, learning about the Ascension and what this meant for the disciples.

Topic - we continued our work on Grace Darling, using her life for the basis of our comprehension work. We also looked at the Farne Islands and the rocks that created problems for the sailors.

In the weeks to come, please ensure your child is reading EVERYDAY at home, is in school on time everyday and they are ready to work hard because they have had an early night. These next few weeks are going to be busy and the children will be working very hard.

Thank-you...hope you have enjoyed the sunshine this weekend! Mrs Hollinghurst and Mrs Bowdell
