.....as stated by Grace Darling when speaking about her act of bravery. Something that I feel we can all keep close to our hearts!

This has been a very busy week in Year 2 and the children have been working very hard. These are the children who have been extraordinary this week...

Maths - no award given as no assembly on Monday

Golden Award - Onalee for working very hard all week on her independent work.

Writing Award - Kayden for a super effort to improve his handwriting - keep up the hard work, the change is remarkable!

This week we have been learning...

English - creative writing based on the Eye of the Storm video clip. The children have written some superb pieces of descriptive writing.

Maths - problem solving and time work! We have been busy. A number of the children have found reading an analogue clock very tricky - please work on at hoe if this applies to your child.

RE - we have been learning about Pentecost as we prepare to celebrate the Birthday of the Church.

Science - we have continued to learn about Habitats and what a habitat must provide for its inhabitants.

History - we have continued to look at the extraordinary life of Grace darling and this week we have made storyboards about the events of one very special night.

Work at home - Reading, as always please. All the children should be reading each night, please sign their reading record as this is the only record we have. Handwriting - please practice writing neatly and on the line with correct letter formation.

And finally.....we will begin our Year 2 special work next week. This gives us two weeks before half term. I will go with the flow of the children to see how much they can cope with and how much time they need. We will start on Monday and see how things go. Please ensure your child is in school everyday, on time and ready to work. Thank-you.

Have a nice weekend....Mrs Hollinghurst and Mrs Bowdell
