Welcome to Year 2 and another new term at Our Lady's. We have been busy today planning our writing about our holidays, learning all about how to grow our brains and talking about how we are all loved by God (as well as our lovely families). All the children have made a great start to the new school year.

I will be holding an information meeting within the next couple of weeks to discuss the expectations of Year 2 so please keep an eye out for the date and time, which I will put on this page and text to you too. Just a few little details for you to be getting on with......

PE - Tuesday's and Friday's. Please ensure your child's jumper is clearly named and that if they are wearing laced trainers, that your child can tie them themselves. Earrings CANNOT be worn for PE and your child MUST be able to remove them themselves.

BAGS - Please ensure your child has their bag in school every day and can key rings please be removed and kept at home - they are not necessary.

READING - Reading books will be changed in class on a MONDAY and THURSDAY if you have signed your child's reading record to say they have completed the book. We would like each child to read at least three times a week to an adult at home.

TOPIC - We have a History focus this half term and will be learning all about the Great Fire of London.

SCIENCE - This half term our topic is all about Plants and what they need to grow - we will be working on our garden area to plant some bulbs.

ENGLISH - Our fiction focus for this half term is stories with a familiar setting and our non-fiction focus is explanations.

MATHS - Our main focus this half term is Number, looking at number bonds, estimating, counting, place value and partitioning.

RE - Our topic is Chosen People.

Please see the Overviews on the Year 2 Information Page for more curriculum information.

Thank-you and I look forward to getting to know your children, and you, much better in the coming weeks.
