Well, our prayers have been answered and Amy was returned to us this week. Year 1 welcomed Amy back to class for a few sessions this week and we couldn’t be happier. Amy brought her beautiful smile back into our classroom and into our hearts. It was a joy to have her back in class and I was so proud of all of the children for how careful, sensitive and thoughtful they were.
All of the children have worked very hard this week, but these are the children we are celebrating….
Golden Award - Emelia for settling into Year 1 very well and making a great start I her new school.
Writing Award - to be given out next week
Maths Award - to be awarded on Monday
This week we have been learning….
English - all our RWI groups have been continuing with a focus on independent writing
Maths - this week we have had a focus on measure; measuring in non-standard and standard measurements. Today we have started using rulers and measuring in cm’s.
RE - this week we have focused on the miracle of the blind man who was cured by Jesus
Topic - we have been learning about Amy Johnson and her link with Blackpool
DON’T FORGET SPORT’S DAY TOMORROW - FRIDAY 5TH JULY!!! Please join us if you can, the children have been practicing very hard! Please make sure your child has a hat and is wearing sun cream - and keep your fingers crossed for nice weather.
Keep up the hard work with reading at home.
NEXT WEEK - the children will be invited to go to tuck for a snack at morning play as they will be able to go in Year 2 if they wish. All children will be taken next week so they know what to expect and the types of FREE snacks they can have.
MOVING UP DAY - KS1 THURSDAY 11TH JULY - the children will get the chance to go to Year 2 to work with Mr Whetnall next Thursday morning to get a taster of what will happen next year.
REPORTS HOME 12TH JULY - with this you will be send the results of your child’s Phonic Screening Assessment. I was very proud of all of the children that week and how hard they have worked.
