I must start this week with saying a great big THANK-YOU! The children looked amazing today - thank-you so much for the effort you made with the children’s costumes, they all looked fabulous and it really helped to set the tone for our day. We have had a great day…….baking, making patterns, playing games, making shape pictures and seeing how Maths forms part of our everyday lives. Pictures to follow over the weekend…..along with the children’s baking, which they will bring home tomorrow. Many thanks to the local Co-op who donated all the ingredients to help celebrate their first birthday!

We will be in Church tomorrow morning to celebrate All Saints Day, so no Friday assembly. As a result, there will be no certificates awarded this week.

This week we have been learning…..

English - we have returned to our RWI groups this week, although with continuing with our pre-cursive handwriting, reading and independent writing in class.

Maths - as well as Maths Day, this week we have been learning how to use a number track to help us count backwards, forwards and find missing numbers.

Science - this week we learnt all about our senses which part of the body is linked with each sense.

RE - we have started to think about our month of Remembering…..thinking about the Saints, our loved ones I Heaven and the sacrifices made by those who went before us in the Great Wars.

Geography - this half term we have a geography focus, this week looking at the countries that make up the UK and the seas that surround us.

This half-term we also have a focus on being faith-filled and hopeful - these themes will form the backdrop of our assemblies as we move through this season and towards the period of Advent.

HARVEST - thank-you to all those of you who have already sent in your Harvest gift - we are collecting boxes of cereal and biscuits to support our local food bank. Thank-you

Keep up the reading and signing your child’s reading records.

Have a happy, and safe, weekend……Mrs Hollighurst and the Year 1 team
