Welcome to Year 1!

What a week we have had. I have been so proud of all of the children this week and the start that they have made to our new school year. They have coped with a new routine amazingly well and they have all behaved impeccably. I couldn't have asked for more.

This week we have been learning.....

English - our focus this week has been on handwriting. we have started our pre-cursive handwriting style, meaning all of our lower case letters start from the line and they have flicks going in and out of the letter. I will discuss this more at the meeting on Tuesday and send home plenty of examples.

Maths - we have been using a 10 frame to recap our number bonds to 10 - making 10 in all the ways we can, using addition and subtraction. These number facts are the basis to a lot of our future work, so they really need to be embedded.

RE - we have started our new topic all about God's Wonderful World through the Creation story.

Science - we have started our new topic all about ourselves, looking at naming parts of the body.

Parents' Information Meeting  - Tuesday 11th September at 3pm in class - I hope you will be able to join us.

Work at Home - please focus on reading - every day if you can would be wonderful, a minimum of three times a week; thank-you.

Your children have been super stars this week - I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
