It has been lovely welcoming the children back to school this week. I can't wait to look at their diaries this weekend, the children were very happy to discuss what they had written and been up to over the holidays! As a class we have discussed lent and all of the things we could do in preparation for lent. The children are really trying to be kind, peaceful and share with their family in Year One. In RE we looked at this as we talked about what makes a good and a bad friend. We did some critical thinking which helped the children grow their brains even more (see pictures below)! We then learned about how Jesus chose his special friends - his disciples, and why he chose them.

In maths we have been halving and dividing into groups, the children have blown me away with their work and enthusiasm! I am so impressed with their partner work.
Our new topic in History is Queens. We started by learning some facts about Queen Elizabeth II. We will continue this next week and then we will begin to learn about different Queens. I wonder if you could research some Kings and Queens at home!

Reports have gone home tonight so please make sure you have a read of them. If you have any queries please catch me after school next week and I will be happy to discuss anything further.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Dixon and the Year One team.
