Thank-you to you all for coming to school today…it was lovely to have the chance to speak to you all about your child and the progress they have made this half term. The children have all worked very hard and I hope they have a lovely half term rest….they deserve it!

This week we have been learning…

English - the children have continued to work hard on their spellings, phonics, spelling and sentence construction in their RWI groups. We have reached the letter ’v’ in our pre-cursive practice - nearly there! Then I will encourage the children to use this style in their writing.

Maths - we have continued to talk about more than and less than, although with using the equals sign. The children have done really well to use the language of less than, more than, greater than, most, least, fewer in their partner talk.

RE - we have been learning all about Noah and have used this story in our own independent writing.

Science - we have worked on classifying animals according to what they eat.

Areas to work on at home - keep up with the reading - the key to all learning. Handwriting and spelling practice if you get the chance.

Have a lovely week off…..Mrs Hollinghurst and the Year 1 team
