We have had a lovely week in Year One with lots of Curious Clara's interested in their learning and sharing interesting questions with the class. In maths we have been weighing, and working out what is lighter and heavier. We have also been weighing in grams and solving problems about weight. The children made everybody in school hungry on Thursday as the delicious smell of freshly baked cookies drifted down the corridors! Please have a go at home and see how the children's weighing skills have improved!
We have been busy learning 'Rumpelhook' (our class version of Rumpelstiltskin) in class this week with the hope of sharing the story with the school next Friday, which is also Pirate day! So next Friday 26th January please make sure you remember to come in your costume! The children will be writing our own version of the story next week, our story maps are ready to go!
We really enjoyed looking at the children's christening and baptism photos, the children enjoyed spotting the symbols used at a baptism in their photos - thank-you for sending them in. We are going to put them on our RE display!
In Science we are learning about materials and their properties, the children are excited to do an experiment next week to see whether certain materials float or and sink! Feel free to have a go at home to see what you can find out.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Dixon and the Year One team.
