Welcome to year 1! Wow week 1 has flown by. The children have settled into the routine really well. We have started a new whole school approach to learning which involves having a growth mindset - everything we do involves hard work to grow our brains and challenge ourselves. The children have embraced all of the challenges they have faced so far with a superb growth mindset.

Our PE days are Monday's and Friday's - both of these are indoor for this term. These may change but I will keep you posted.
Basket books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday, please ensure the children have an updated reading log and their book to change on these days. Please try to listen to the children reading atleast 3 times a week and update the reading log. The books are not supposed to be very challenging, as the reading at home is designed to help the children develop a love for reading and to help them read more fluently.
There will be a parent meeting soon and I will let you know the date and time ASAP so you can ask any questions then, in the meantime please do come to speak to me at the end of the day to ask me any questions that you have.

The children have been busy learning about cultures through the book Handa's suprise, we tried some fruit on Tuesday and we have been describing it in our writing. In maths we have been counting forwards and backwards and doing lots of fun number activities.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to our first full week next week!
