We have been working hard in year one to grow our brains. The children are really giving things a go even when they find it is challenging. In English we have been doing role play, acting out the story of Handa's surprise with our groups. We have now planned our own version and made our front cover, ready to begin writing next week!
In maths we have been learning and practicing our number bonds to 5, 10 and 20. Please practice these at home, you can use the game 'hit the button' for number bonds to 10 and 20: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

In Science we have been labeling parts of the body and we have enjoyed doing senses challenges: taste, touch and sight were our main focuses this week for our investigations. Next week we will begin looking into the geography of where we live, please complete the home task I have given to the children - just asking for their address (street name is fine), the type of house they live in and what you can find on the street (signs, post boxes ect).

In RE we have been looking at God's creation and when he created certain things. We look forward to next week thinking about who looks after us.

On Wednesday 20th September at 3pm there will be a meet the teacher in the Y1 classroom to allow me to explain the way we work in year one, our expectations in school and at home and for you to ask any questions you may have.

Have a lovely weekend.
