Year 1 have been a pleasure to teach this week. They were very welcoming on Monday when I arrived back from WaterParks and it seems they had a wonderful week with Mrs Clarke. This week we have been practicing our addition and subtraction, many children had a go at some word problems and they worked very well with their learning partners. In English the children have created their own story map for The smartest GIANT in town - Julia Donaldson. We will begin writing our stories next week.

Our new topic has has been very exciting, we have learned about the Wright Brothers and Amy Johnson! We have also made some things that fly - we do enjoy making things in Year 1. On Monday we did some gardening with some lovely volunteers who helped us to improve the plant pots in our school playground. Please see the Year 1 - galleries section to see the photos!

Today we received postcards from our penpals at Our Lady Star of the Sea! We were all very excited to learn that in a few weeks we hope to meet them when their Year 1 class come to visit our school. We hope to then visit their school the week after! (I will update you with more information nearer the time).

Learning logs have gone home tonight, they are due back on Wednesday 5th July!

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
