We hope you had a lovely Easter break and continue to enjoy Easter now we are back in school. We have had a lovely week back at school. In maths we looked at the place value of 2 digit numbers in many ways, the children are beginning to really understand this well. In English we have started looking at dictionaries and how to use them. Next week we will make our own mini dictionaries and a class dictionary for our new topic: plants and the rainforest!

We started our science topic by planting seeds this week - marigold, cress and runner beans. We have already noticed some cress growing and stems beginning to show!

The school is having a focus on house points to reward positive behavior - we have already been using these in year one so children should know which house they are in. Newton, Layton, Clifton and Marton are the 4 houses!

Please make sure you write in your child's diary each time you read with them at home - we have a minimum expectation of 3 times per week. Also, please ensure reading diaries are in school bags every day so we can write in when we have done guided reading in school. With phonics screening coming ever closer, reading at home will really help the children gain the confidence that they need.

Learning logs will be sent home on Monday, apologies they were not sent home tonight.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and here's hoping the sun will come out tomorrow!
