You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man! We have had a lovely 4 days back in school. In English we have started The Gingerbread Man as we are looking at traditional tales. We have been learning the story off by heart and hopefully we will perform it on world book day for the rest of the school. I will upload the pictures onto the website for you to have a look!

In maths we have focused on coins and their value this week, it really is a hard concept - for example, one 5p coin is worth the same as five 1p coins. We have also been practicing our 2, 5 and 10 times tables this week. We have looked at how we can use a number line and hundred square to help us. The children have been very focused and engaged in the activities which is lovely to see.

It is a very busy week next week....
Tuesday 28th February - The Royal Shakespeare Company are in school doing a performance of The Tempest at 2pm and 7pm. The 2pm showing is for year 4,5 and 6. There are still tickets available for the 7pm showing which can be purchased through the Grand Theatre. We are very lucky to have the RSC at our school, they are also performing the same show at the Grand Theatre.
Wednesday 1st March - Ash Wednesday. We will be going to mass at 9.30 on Wednesday.
Thursday 2nd March - World book day. The children may come in dressed as a character from a story they have read.

All of the learning logs which had been returned to school have gone home tonight with the new homework and spellings, they are due back on Wednesday 8th March. The spellings are the days of the week, as children should be able to spell these words by the end of year 1.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
