What an exciting week in Year 1. We have really started to get to grips with our Nativity performance practice, we can't wait for you to all see it on Tuesday 19th December.

In maths this week we have been looking at recognizing coins, some children have worked really hard to learn the value of certain coins. Please have a look at home, see if you can remember how much each coin is worth and you could try to add certain coins together!

In RE we have learned about the Christmas Story, the children enjoyed ordering the story and they showed a great understanding. Next week we will be learning more about Mary.

In school, as you know, we are focusing on building a growth mindset, it is really important as it helps the children take responsibility and work more independently. This website explains the concept in a simple and quick way so please do have a look: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/grownups/help-your-child-try-new-things

Please read your books at home over the weekend and we will change books on Tuesday instead of Monday due to our trip. Please come to school in full PE kit and with a coat. Children having a packed lunch made by school do not need a lunch box, we will organize everything at school for you. We leave school at 9:30am and will return in time for home time.

Polite reminder: If your child is being picked up by somebody who is not known to school (including the parent of another child) please let the school office know before home time.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Dixon and the Y1 team.
