I must first start this weeks post with a very big thank-you from Mrs Veasey and I, for all of the lovely gifts at Christmas time. They were such a lovely touch to end 2016.
We have had a great week here in year 1. We started learning lots about Pirates, walking the plank in PE, acting like pirates in the role play area, reading pirate stories and beginning to write our own! Next week we will start thinking about materials which will be useful for making pirate ships.
In maths we have been learning about money - all of the different coins and notes. Please make sure the children practice this at home and in the shops. It would be great if they could work out the change they think they should get when they are buying any little things.
This week we have been thinking about other people, on Monday Miss Haggerty spoke to the children about how all people are special and they should be treasured. We have continued to think about this in class, especially our family - we have been discussing and recognizing how lucky we are to have people that care for us.
Learning logs have gone home tonight, they are due back on Wednesday 25th January. The spellings are: Was, is, his, has, you.
If you have a baptism photo (just one would be great) and you would like to bring it in on Monday that would be lovely as we will be learning about baptism in RE. We will try to return it next week.
Have a lovely weekend
Miss Dixon and Mrs Veasey
