In Reception today we read a story about 3 aliens, one of the aliens had decided to make a dress. His friends kept suggesting ideas that could make it better and Zid kept making the changes he needed to until it was perfect. We talked about whether we like to change our creations to make them better when someone else suggests something that we could do. Resilience is so important when we are learning and trying to grow our brains and the children are becoming more resilient every day. Perhaps you could challenge the children at home to see if they can be resilient.

In Maths this week, the children have been taking away. They have used planets to help them to find one less than a number and lots of children have even managed to do sums such as 10 - 3 = 7. We have also been measuring this week. Some children measured their caterpillars using cubes and others measured using a ruler. I have been blown away with their super measuring skills.

Reception have been thinking about what makes a good friend and when they have been upset by others. We have discussed this as a class in detail and encouraged all of the children to try to be a good friend to others. The children have enjoyed sharing their nice experiences with their friends this week and we have talked about them after playtime.

Next week, we are looking forward to Amy returning to Year One for a little while on a couple of days. She will hopefully be playing for a short time on the playground. I am going to discuss this with the children on Monday and explain that we need to be careful and ensure we do not bump or get too close to her (including hugs) as this could make her unwell. She is still having medicine, so she may look different to when they last saw her. I would like the children to think about nice things to say if they get the chance to speak to her that don’t involve her appearance. If you would like to discuss this with your child before next week, that would be lovely. We cannot wait to see her.

Please send your children to school in their PE kit next Tuesday, as we are having a KS1 sports day practice and next Friday for our official Sports day. Fingers crossed for lovely weather!

Here are a few photos of our learning this week, enjoy and have a lovely weekend in the sun!
