What an exciting week we have had in Reception. I am so proud of their super listening in Church on Wednesday as we begin our Lenten journey. We have discussed the meaning of Lent and we will continue our learning about this next week. I wonder if you could discuss any of the changes that we could make in our lives in the special time of Lent?

Thank-you for all of your effort for World Book Day, the children looked fantastic and were so excited to share their characters, stories and enjoy reading together. In Reception the children learn a tremendous amount through stories each day and they begin to read theirself, so participating in a special day which recognises the impact which books can have on our lives is fantastic. We had an extra surprise on Thursday, after we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar… The children were told about our very own caterpillars that we will be looking after until they become butterfly’s and we can set them free. We have looked more closely at how this process will occur and we are excited to watch this happen with our caterpillars. Please look at the Reception - Gallery section for photos from the day!

We were challenged to read in an unusual place this week, so we decided to read in the hall! The children listened beautifully and enjoyed a story, aswell as retelling The Three Little Pigs together. We have internalised the story so well that we will be writing our own version next week!

Also this week… We made our own maths game, looked at which materials would be best for The 3 Little Pigs, made maps of where the houses are, did some gardening and we enjoyed looking at our wow work in our wow folders. Here are some photos :

I look forward to seeing you all next week (Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th March) for our meetings. I can’t wait to discuss your child’s progress and achievements. If you haven’t selected a time please come and speak to me after school on Monday to arrange one.

I hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Dixon and the Reception team
