What a jam packed week we have had yet again in Reception! On Monday we planted our very own beanstalks (runner beans) and designed our own castle for our beanstalks to grow towards. We learned all about the things that plants need to grow and we will be keeping a close eye on them over the next few weeks. Something else that we have been keeping a close eye on is our caterpillars, I am so pleased (and relieved) to say they are growing very quickly and I am sure they will be in their cocoons in no time.

In RE this week we learned about forgiveness. This half term we have been learning through the stories from the bible how important mistakes are. Even more importantly we have been learning just saying sorry may not be enough, we need to make sure that we show we are truly sorry. This week we learned about what happened in The Garden of Gethsemane, Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, said he did not know Jesus 3 times! We learned of Jesus’ forgiveness and realised that we should try to make sure we forgive and make friends if somebody has upset us. The children worked together to make and colour grass, trees, flowers, butterfly’s and lots more to make our class picture of The Garden of Gethsemane. Take a look at the pictures below to see it in action!

On Thursday we received a letter from the Giant! He asked if we could find things longer, shorter and the same length as his footprints! This has led to us writing some letters back to the Giant and to Mrs Ormerod to see if she knew anything about it! Our Jack and the Beanstalk activities will continue next week.

Here are some of the photos from our learning this week:

There may not be many posts on our Reception section after today leading up to the Easter break, as from next Thursday Reception will be taught by Mrs Clarke as I will not be here for a couple of weeks.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your families.
