We are half way through our academic year in reception and wow! What amazing progress the children have made already. It is lovely to sit and reflect on how far they have come in so many ways.

This week we have enjoyed rounding off our learning about the Chinese New Year. The children have enjoyed making special envelopes with coins on, lanterns, dragons and dragon masks. We have been learning about coins and thinking about why we need money and what we spend it on. The coins we have focused our learning on are 1p, 2p and 5p. Although, we have looked at all of the coins you may find in our purses/wallets or behind the sofa!

In RE this week we learned about when Jesus healed the man at the Pool of Bethesda, this again led us on to thinking of people who we would like to ask for God’s help in making them feel better. The children have drawn a picture and written some lovely prayers for our prayer book, with Miss Lane.

What fearless children we have in our class! PE was lots of fun on Monday with the large apparatus. We pretended we were climbing the Great Wall of China and had lots of fun. Here are some of the action shots!

Important activities for the week off, aswell as reading and blending sounds practice:
- Scissors and cutting practice, this would be very useful as we have lots of children who need to improve their grip of the scissors and ability to cut on the lines.
- Knife and fork - please could you try to get the children cutting up their own food.
- Clothes - zipping up coats, putting jumpers on and off, putting socks and shoes on and off.

These things will come over time but if you can start the practice over the break and continue into our next half term that would be fantastic.

We return to school on Monday 25th February, on Thursday 7th March it is world book day so the children can come to school dressed up as their favourite character!

Have a wonderful break, fingers crossed for some more sun next week!
